The primary solution for glass plank roads is multi-layer laminated tempered glass, which combines the high strength of tempered glass with the structural integrity of laminated interlayers. This composite structure ensures that even if the glass is accidentally broken, it remains intact as a whole, preventing falls and ensuring visitor safety. We offer two main configurations based on project risk levels and span requirements:
Standard Configuration (for low to medium-risk plank roads): 2 layers of 12mm tempered glass + 1.52mm PVB/SGP interlayer. Suitable for plank roads with a single-span length ≤ 2m and daily pedestrian flow ≤ 5000 people.
High-Strength Configuration (for high-risk, long-span plank roads): 3 layers of 12mm/15mm tempered glass + double 1.52mm SGP interlayers. Applicable to plank roads with a single-span length up to 3m, high-altitude locations (≥ 50m above ground), or areas with large pedestrian flow (>5000 people/day).
Anti-Slip Treatment: Surface embossing (pattern options: diamond, sandblasted, or custom) or anti-slip coating (silicone-based, wear-resistant ≥ 50000 friction cycles) to ensure a high friction coefficient (≥ 0.6) even in wet conditions (rain, dew).
Anti-UV & Anti-Aging: Adding UV-resistant additives to the interlayer or applying a nano-coating to block ≥ 99% of UVA/UVB rays, preventing glass yellowing and interlayer degradation, and extending the service life to ≥ 15 years.
Anti-Glare Treatment: Optional matte coating or frosted edge processing to reduce glare caused by strong sunlight, improving visibility and visitor comfort.
Custom Sizing & Shaping: Support for customized sizes (maximum size: 3660mm × 16000mm) and shapes (rectangular, curved, or irregular) to adapt to different plank road structures (suspension type, cantilever type, etc.).
Tempered Glass: Made of high-quality float glass (SiO₂ content ≥ 72%). After tempering, the surface compressive stress shall be ≥ 90MPa, and the internal tensile stress shall be ≤ 35MPa. The fragmentation test shall meet the requirements of GB/T 9963-2016 and ASTM C1048: the number of fragments in a 50mm × 50mm area shall be 40-400, and no large fragments exceeding 10mm shall be present.
Interlayer Material: For standard configurations, use PVB interlayer with thickness ≥ 1.52mm, tensile strength ≥ 18MPa, and elongation at break ≥ 300%. For high-strength configurations, use SGP interlayer (ionomer resin) with thickness ≥ 1.52mm, tensile strength ≥ 45MPa, and shear strength ≥ 1.4MPa (at 23℃), which has excellent resistance to impact and temperature changes (-40℃ to 80℃).
Anti-Slip Coating/Pattern: The anti-slip layer shall be wear-resistant (abrasion resistance test: ≥ 50000 cycles without obvious wear) and corrosion-resistant (resistant to acid, alkali, and salt spray for ≥ 1000 hours). The friction coefficient (wet condition) shall be ≥ 0.6 (test standard: EN 14411).
Load-Bearing Capacity: Static load capacity ≥ 5.0kN/m² (equivalent to 500kg/m²), which can withstand the simultaneous standing of 8-10 adults per square meter. Dynamic load capacity: can withstand the impact of a 100kg weight falling from a height of 1.5m without permanent deformation or breakage.
Impact Resistance: Pass the impact test in accordance with GB/T 18301-2009 and ANSI Z97.1: no penetration when impacted by a 45kg steel ball falling from a height of 3m. Even if broken, the glass remains bonded by the interlayer, without fragment shedding.
Wind Load Resistance: Can withstand wind pressure ≥ 2.5kPa (equivalent to level 14 wind), suitable for high-altitude suspension glass plank roads.
Temperature Resistance: Can operate stably in the temperature range of -40℃ to 80℃. After 10 thermal cycles (from -40℃ to 80℃, each cycle 24 hours), there shall be no delamination, cracking, or color change.
Weather Resistance: Pass the accelerated aging test (UV irradiation + humidity cycle) for 1000 hours, with no delamination, yellowing, or decrease in mechanical performance. Salt spray resistance: ≥ 1000 hours (test standard: ASTM B117) without corrosion or damage.
Waterproof Performance: The edge of the laminated glass shall be sealed with high-quality silicone sealant (compatible with PVB/SGP interlayer), with a water penetration resistance of ≥ 1.5m water column (test standard: ISO 10545-13).
All glass products must pass strict quality inspections, including appearance inspection (no bubbles, scratches, or impurities), thickness deviation (± 0.2mm), flatness (≤ 0.3mm/m), and performance testing (load-bearing, impact, etc.).
Comply with international standards: GB/T 9963-2016 (China), ASTM C1048 (USA), EN 12150 (EU), and ISO 12543 (international). Provide relevant certification documents (CE, FCC, ISO 9001) as required by customers.
The service life of the glass product shall be ≥ 15 years under normal use conditions. Provide a quality guarantee period of ≥ 5 years.
